Treasure These Things
There’s so much about the Christmas story to treasure! So much to glean from and so much to learn!
Mary, the mother of Jesus, took it all in! From the angel appearing to her, letting her know she was blessed and highly favored, to the shepherds and later the wisemen coming to visit her child.
In the Gospel of Luke, the writer says she treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.
The New Living Translation puts it this way: But Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often. Luke 2:19 NLT
I want to ask you: What are you thinking about often?
The good things of God? The miracles? The words He’s spoken? The truths He’s imparted? The signs and wonders you’ve seen in your own life and in the lives of those around you?
Many times, when God gives me a word, a revelation, a next level of joy or peace or confidence or healing – I feel like a Mary! I treasure these things in my heart and I think about them often!
I think about what God has said in the past. All the promises He’s spoken and prophetic words He’s proclaimed.
And I think about what He’s done in the past. All the ways He’s provided. All the ways He’s healed and restored and set me and others free.
Today I want to encourage you, especially as this year is coming quickly to a close, to remind yourself of the things God has said and the things God has done this past year. Treasure them in your heart! Give them a place of beauty, a place of prominence.
What has God promised you? Don’t forget it. And don’t ignore it.
Treasure it! With joy and patience and expectation!
Treasure it and think about it often! Not in a Why isn’t this happening yet, poor me… sort of way, but a Wow, God, You’re going to do that? I don’t know how, but I’m so excited to see… kind of way!
Yes, now is the time to remember all the words God has spoken, all the testimonies of the good things He’s done!
To remember. And to treasure. To think about them often. And to wait. With hope-filled, joy-filled expectation. For the glorious moment you see His promises fulfilled, here on earth, in your life!
But Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often. Luke 2:19 NLT
Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her! Luke 1:45 NLT
Great favor is upon you, for you have believed every word spoken to you from the Lord. Luke 1:45 TPT
