Set Your Mind
I can’t afford to have any negative thoughts in my head about that person. If I don’t need to know – if I’m not part of the problem or part of the solution – then I don’t want to know.
Ever heard those words before?
In the moment, they can sound harsh.
We think, What do they mean they don’t want to know? Don’t they care about what I’m thinking or feeling?!
Or they can sound immature.
We think, What are they going to do, just bury their head in the sand? They can’t just walk around being naive, you know!
But the truth is, we really can’t afford to have any negative thoughts about the people around us!
It’s not about immaturity. And it’s not about being harsh.
It’s actually about maturing! It’s about thinking the way Jesus does. It’s about having – and using – the mind of Christ!
It’s about allowing Holy Spirit to change our mindsets and change our hearts to align with His!
It’s about guarding our hearts, by guarding our thoughts, because out of our hearts flows everything we say and do!
It’s about seeing people the way God does! As His beloved children. As His precious sons and daughters, wholly and dearly loved!
It’s about loving others the way God loves us!
It’s about choosing to love. Choosing to forgive. Choosing to believe the best and hope the best and speak the best and think the best.
It’s about being a true representative of Christ.
Oh friends, we simply can’t afford to have any thoughts in our heads, about ourselves or about others, that are not from God!
Our lives are too valuable. Our relationships are too precious.
It’s time to allow God to love us! It’s time to accept His love for ourselves, so we can love others the way He does!
It’s time to do the hard work of saying no to negative thoughts and saying yes to truth!
It’s time!
